Treatment & Coaching Program
Acumen Institute is dedicated to individualizing each client’s treatment and professional coaching process. After an initial telephone triage with a primary doctor, a plan for how to meet the client's needs is configured. The types of difficulties we help people to overcome include:
- Professional boundary problems
- Sexual misconduct and harassment
- Emotional distress and personality factors that result in disruptive behavior
- Treatment of compulsive behavioral disorders
- Psychological factors that complicate recovery from chemical dependency
- Life stage and career phase transitions
Acumen Institute Process
Treatment at Acumen Institute is a three phase process:
- Phase I: Immersion and Redirection
- Phase II: Longitudinal Coaching and Follow-Up at Acumen Institute
- Phase III: Strengthening Awareness and Termination
The Immersion Phase lasts from three to eight weeks depending upon the nature of the client's difficulties. Initially, addressing the client's challenges involves an immersion into a daily sequence of individual and small-group interventions on an outpatient basis (Monday-Friday 9:00-4:30). Individuals are discharged from the Immersion Phase when deemed ready to return to work and a reentry plan is developed.
After completing the Immersion Phase, client's enter into the Longitudinal Coaching and Follow-Up Phase. This consists of periodic clinical assessment, coaching, and evaluation of the client's professional activities at Acumen Institute. This phase is coordinated with the client's physicians health program, local treaters, and collateral sources. Longitudinal behavioral monitoring of workplace behavior by Acumen Institute is available on a case-by-case basis.
The final phase in the Acumen Institute process includes a wrap-up consultation to consolidate gains, reinforce awareness of distress, and to strengthen the client's coping plan.
